Social networking: you rock my socks
February 19th, 2009I’ve been busy these past few months getting back into the habit of 9 to 5ness. Once you’ve had the taste of beat-life freedom, long coffees and days with nothing to do but ponder on the suitability of getting out of bed – it is hard to go back. But in these unstable times, sacrifices must be made.
Worry not, as these trying situations often make for good story fodder – at the very least amusing anecdotes will be had over drinks.
Meanwhile, I am working on the first draft of novel two, the Ecuadorian family saga. So far things are looking good. More, as progress gets made. To read about my writing woes and struggles, visit me at my blog: www.nikiaguirre.com

The Shed
October 24th, 2008The Shed, a short story from 29 Ways to Drown is mentioned on shedworking.co.uk. I never knew there was a entire magazine and website dedicated to sheds! From the quaint to the palatial, some of those spaces make me want to take up residence in my garden.
Drabble Dribble
August 12th, 2008On hiatus from novel, I was recently introduced to a Drabble – a short story of exactly 100 words. I posted my attempt on my blog, although I wasn’t happy with the results. 100 words is nothing: mere spittle. A dribble of words not worth counting. A drag. Encouraged (or deluded?) by kind comments, I sent it off to a publication that specializes in short shorts. Result! They liked it and are going to publish it in their magazine. Yay. I don’t know if there is a lesson in this. I guess you never know, even when dealing with drivel.
(by the way, the above text is 100 words exactly. Ha ha)
