Poem of the Week
As existing fans of flipped eye publishing will know, one of our main driving inspirations is to make literature available to people for as little as possible – for free when feasible – so our Poem of the Week initiative will come as no surprise to you.
Poem of the Week is a multiple media (mailout and podcast) vehicle for sharing existing and forthcoming work from our poets with literature enthusiasts from around the world. The mailouts can be received by simply signing up to our mailing list (on the left), and the podcast can either be listened to weekly via GarageBand or monthly via iTunes.
In keeping with our grassroots approach, we have not invested in equipment; we have simply made use of technologies available for free on the internet. Our poets from all over the world (we have already sent out podcasts using audio sent in from Sierra Leone and the USA) just call in to our Skype account and leave a voicemail, which we download. We edited initially using audacity (a free audio editing tool), but have recently welcomed on board a very skilled digital intern, Theo Attikouris, who is now in charge of cleaning up the files and mixing the podcasts for us.
